Roger Yutzy

Roger William Yutzy, 65 of Arthur, IL passed away on Tuesday, September 24, 2019.

Celebration of Roger’s life will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, September 29, 2019 at the LifePointe Church, 1313 South 9th Street, Mattoon, IL.  Pastor Matt White will officiate.  Private burial will be held in the Arthur Cemetery at a later date.  Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL.

Roger was born on January 1, 1954 in Tuscola, IL.  He was a son of Christian “Chris” and Lucy W. (Schrock) Yutzy.  He married Laura Miller on July 4, 2003 in Tuscola, IL.

Survivors include his wife, Laura of Arthur, IL, two daughters, Angela Bowman and her husband Joshua of Arthur and Alicia Marner and her husband Scott of Chesterville, three grandchildren, Anthony, Sophia and Remington Bowman, his mother, Lucy Yutzy of Arcola, IL and three siblings, JoEllen Yutzy of Arcola, Judith Gingerich and her husband Lloyd of Arcola, and Karen Gingerich and her husband Ernest, of Arcola and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Roger farmed for John Hilgenberg right out of High School. In 1973 he drove a delivery truck for O.E. Schrock.  He started his professional truck driving career when he went to work for Schrock/Tappen.   For the past 20 years he has been a long-haul driver for CHI.

From his first bicycle when he was 6 years old, he developed a passion for restoration.   He has been maintaining and restoring vehicles ever since.

He enjoyed riding motorcycles, being outdoors, camping, fishing, sitting around a campfire and most importantly spending time with family and friends, especially his grandchildren.
