Ned R. Douglas, 84 of Hindsboro, IL passed away at 4:12 P.M. on Sunday, January 17, 2021 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Private funeral services will be held on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the Edwards Funeral Home.   Rev. Zandra Anderson will officiate.  Burial will be in the VanVoorhis Cemetery at a later date.  Friends may pay their respects to Ned and sign the register book between 1:00 P.M and 3:00 P.M. on Wednesday, January 20, 2021 at the funeral home.

Ned was born on April 2, 1936 in Douglas County, IL.  He was a son of Ray E. and Jessie H. (Vandeventer) Douglas.  He married Phyllis Crites on February 18, 1961 in Hindsboro, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Hindsboro, IL, three daughters, Lora Strader and her husband Chad of Arcola, IL, Lynn Klopfleisch and her husband Rick of Arcola, IL and Lisa Douglas of Hindsboro, IL, seven grandchildren, Reed, Chase and Ellie Strader all of Arcola, IL and Giovanni Salinas of Mattoon, IL and Emma, Camille and Will Klopfleisch all of Arcola, IL, one great granddaughter Genevieve Salinas of Mattoon, IL; one sister, Lorene Shea of Dallas, TX and one brother, Glen Douglas of Phoenixville, PA.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and ten siblings, June, Jean, Dorothy, Don, Larry, Ben, Max, Dale, Rex and Mary Frances.

Ned graduated from Arcola High School in 1954.   He was a veteran of the Army National Guard.  Ned was a volunteer for the Hindsboro Fire Department for several years.

Ned enjoyed spending much of his time keeping up with the activities of all of his grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Hindsboro Volunteer Fire Department.
