Lauretta Williams, 92, of Arcola, IL passed away at 1:56 P.M. Sunday, September 27, 2020 at her daughter’s residence in rural Arcola, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. Rev. Shaun DuFault will officiate. Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 5:00P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at the funeral home.
Lauretta was born January 10, 1928 in Decatur, IL. She was a daughter of George B. Sr. and Laura (Weaver) Newman. She married Paul Williams September 23, 1951 in Forsythe, IL. He passed away August 19, 2000.
She is survived by three daughters, Paula Jean Williams and her special friend Luther Colter of Paris, IL, Beverly Joan Gilliland and her husband Robert of Arcola, IL, and Vanessa June Wangler and her husband Loran of Elk Grove Village, IL; five grandchildren, Joe Gilliland and his wife Tammy of Broadlands, IL, Amy Michaels and her husband Bob of Oakland, IL, Vicki DuFault and her husband Shaun of New Castle, IN, Kristi Etheridge and her husband Brett of Bonnie, IL, and Jennifer Meyers and her husband Nathan of Elk Grove Village, IL; thirteen great-grandchildren, Nick Tomlinson, Elizabeth Misner and her husband Chris, Dominic and Savannah Gilliland, Brooke, Hannah, Josiah, Boaz, Silas and Miriam DuFault, Brandon and Taylor Etheridge, and Oliver Meyers.
Lauretta was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one son Paul Andrew “Andy” Williams, and one brother George Newman Jr.
Lauretta graduated from Warrensburg High School in 1945. She attended Millikin University and graduated from Eastern Illinois State College. She was a homemaker, a farmer’s wife, and also worked at the Humboldt Post Office as well as being a volunteer at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center.
Lauretta was a member of the Humboldt Methodist Church.
Lauretta enjoyed reading, crocheting, and traveling, but her greatest joy came from watching her children and grandchildren play in their sporting events.
