Bruce Cobb, 94 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 3:50 P.M. on Wednesday, March 4, 2020 at Carriage Crossing in Arcola, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 12:00 P.M. (Noon) on Saturday, March 7, 2020 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL.  Rev. Ian Stamps will officiate.  Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 10:00 A.M. to noon at the funeral home.

Bruce was born on January 6, 1926 in Humboldt Township.   He was a son of Marion Francis and Hazel Marie (Callahan) Cobb.  He married Mary Wildman on May 2, 1948 in Mattoon, IL.  She passed away on May 12, 2013.

He is survived by three children, Mike Cobb and his wife Rita of Bath Springs, TN, Connie Drake and her husband Steve of Arcola, IL and Gary Cobb and his wife Laura of Spicewood, TX, five grandchildren, Shane Cobb, Jodi Hubbard, Rhiannon Meadows and her husband Jim, Jason Drake and his wife Heather, and Sarah Crist; thirteen great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Olaf Cobb of Anna, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Mary, one son, Gene Cobb, one granddaughter, Michelle (Cobb) Fugate, three brothers, William Cobb, Joseph Cobb and David Cobb, and four sisters, Jennie Wickersham, Carol DaVault, Mildred Sparling and Nelda Hacker.

Bruce was an Army Veteran.

He was a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon, IL.

Bruce was a farmer at heart.   At the age of 10 he started helping his dad in the Cooks Mills area; he farmed full time up until he began working for the postal service in 1964.   He then continued to help area farmers on the weekends and in his spare time.  He served the U.S. Postal Service for nearly 30 years.   Retiring as Postmaster from the Windsor Post Office in 1993.   He had also served as Postmaster in Humboldt for many years.

Bruce was quite the storyteller; he enjoyed traveling, tinkering in his garage and volunteering for peace meals and local foodbanks.
