William Michael “Mike” Drummond, 77 of Gays, IL passed away at 12:20 AM on Wednesday, April 29, 2026 at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria, IL.
Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, May 16, 2026 at the Bible Baptist Church, 3401 Marion Avenue, Mattoon, IL. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Mike was born on October 8, 1948 in Mattoon, IL. He was a son of Glen Wallace and Patricia Lee (Woolsey) Drummond. He married Jo Ann Trotter on September 1, 1967 in Mattoon, IL; she passed away on October 7, 2025.
He is survived by two sons, Tim Drummond of Gays, IL, and Thomas Drummond and his wife Megan of Kansas, IL, four grandchildren, Tyler Drummond and his wife Tabi of Mattoon, IL, Zacharie Drummond of Mattoon, IL, Bailey Drummond of Decatur, IL, and Emily Drummond of Charleston, IL, three great grandchildren, Addison, Scout and Blakely Drummond, one brother, John Drummond of Charleston, IL, and two sisters, Lynora Pullen and her husband Steve of Trilla, IL, and Patti Sanders of Mattoon, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, two brothers, Lance Wayne Drummond and Glen Steven Drummond and his wife Jeanne, and a sister-in-law, Jenness Drummond.
Mike graduated from Mattoon High School in 1967. After his education, he proudly served in the Army during the Vietnam War. Following his military service, he began his career at Progress Industries in the tank division in Arthur, IL. Later, he found a long-term position at USI in Tuscola, IL, where he worked from 1972 until his retirement in 2011 as a machinist. He also worked at Superior in Mattoon, where he handled grain equipment.
Mike had a deep love for old cars. One of his favorite projects was restoring his 1940 Ford pickup. He also enjoyed woodworking and had a natural talent for art.
He was a member of the Bible Baptist Church in Mattoon, IL.
