William L. "Bill" Sanders

William L. “Bill” Sanders, 59 of Mattoon, IL passed away at 2:57 AM on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Mattoon Rehab and Health Care Center.

Bill was born on January 16, 1966, in Tuscola, IL. He was the son of Larry Dale and Nona (Lyons) Sanders. He married Doreen Ard on January 22, 1985, in Tuscola, IL, she passed away on October 15, 2003. He later married Susan Lilienthal on August 1, 2012, in Camargo, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Sanders of Mattoon, IL, four children, Ashley Negangard and her husband Darryl of Camargo, IL, Billy Sanders and his wife Rachel of Tuscola, IL, Bruce Evans and his wife Hollie of Atwood, IL, and Matt Sanders and his wife Bridget of Camargo, IL two step children, Scott Thorman of Oakland, IL and Tony Thorman of Mattoon, IL. 11 grandchildren, Cadence, Brody, Lillie, Ty, Kendall, Emma, Kynlee, Ryker, Taylor, Sarah, and Everly. Five siblings, Nancy McPheron and her husband Dennis of Rochester Hills, MI, Doug Snyder and his wife Malora of Atwood, IL, Marylin Beschorner and her husband Stan of Paris, IL, Connie Gurley and her husband Danny of Vienna, IL, and Vicky Salisbury and her husband Jimmy of Paris, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Doreen, and a sister, Patty Brackney.

Bill was a 1984 graduate of Tuscola High School.

Bill had a lengthy career spanning several years in the manufacturing and equipment services industries. He worked at Progress Tank in Arthur, IL for 13 years before moving on to Nordco Equipment Services in Arcola, where he spent another 15 years working as a mechanic.

Bill loved being around his family, especially his kids and grandkids, he cherished the time spent with them. His hobbies included woodworking, where he made various yard ornaments for his children and toy boxes for his grandchildren. He also enjoyed tinkering in his garage.
