Virgil Richey

Virgil L. Richey, 44, of Mattoon, IL formerly of Arcola, IL passed away on Friday, August 10, 2018 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 17, 2018 at 1:00 P.M. at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL.  Marie Stanton will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 16, 2018 from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Virgil was born on December 29, 1973 in Tuscola, IL.  He was a son of Cody Lee and Vivian Lee (Harris) Richey.  He married Dawn McLane in 2010 in Mattoon, IL.

Survivors include four children, Brandon L. Richey, Stephanie M. Richey, Vivian L. Richey and Daelyn R. Richey all of Mattoon, IL, his ex-wife, Dawn Richey and her fiancé Chris Coad of Mattoon, IL, two brothers, Cody Richey and Paul Richey both of Mattoon, IL, two sisters, Marie Stanton and her husband Tim of Arcola, IL and Carla Stewart and her husband Dave of Fairgrange, IL, his girlfriend, Erica Shearl of Mattoon, IL and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and a stillborn child.

Virgil was a self-employed sub-contractor doing roofing jobs for several contractors in the area.

He loved watching the Dallas Cowboys, Chicago Cubs and NASCAR.  He enjoyed traveling to St. Louis with his children and taking them to the NASCAR Park.

Virgil loved his family and children and always loved to joke around with anyone.
