Verna Kuhns

VERNA (KAUFFMAN) KUHNS, 85, of Tuscola, IL passed away at 2:00 P.M. on Friday, July 3, 3015 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Visitation was held from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 4, 2015 and will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 5, 2015 at the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola, IL. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Monday, July 6, 2015 at the Pleasant View Church in rural Arcola, IL. Bishop Howard Kuhns will officiate Burial will be in the Pleasant View Cemetery in rural Arcola, IL. The Edwards Funeral home is assisting with arrangements.

Verna was born on February 4, 1930 in Chesterville, IL. She was a daughter of Joel J. and Katie Ann (Schlabach) Kauffman. She married Harvey B. Kuhns on June 17, 1948 in Arthur, IL and they lived in Holy Matrimony for 67 years and 16 days.

Verna is survived by her husband, Harvey of Tuscola, IL, 6 children, Mary Kathryn (Dan) Gingerich of Abbeville, SC, Edna Mae Kuhns of Tuscola, IL, Elsie (Alva) Miller of Arthur, IL, Gary (Ruth) Kuhns of Tuscola, IL, Wilma (Wesley) Yoder and Duane (Irene) Kuhns all of Arthur, IL, 14 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 3 sisters, Elsie Yoder of Arcola, IL, Mary Ellen (Lester) Lee and Irene Kauffman all of Arthur, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, 4 brothers, Jacob, Ervin, Eli and Daniel Kauffman and 4 sisters, Alma Kuhns, Annie Mae Otto, Abbie Kauffman and Fannie Miller.

Verna enjoyed her family, gardening and homemaking. She especially enjoyed taking Harvey’s meals to him when he was farming.
