Tommy Wayne Nixon, 66 of Charleston, IL passed away at 12:23 P.M. on Thursday, April 3, 2014 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at the Gwinn Cemetery in rural Oakland, IL. Rickey Ferguson will officiate. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Tommy was born on March 12, 1948 in Tuscola, IL. He was a son of T.C. and Frieda (Leonard) Nixon.
He is survived by his girlfriend of 22 years, Bessie Wright; three children, Angel Anderson and her husband Brad of Charleston, IL, Joseph Nixon of Dixon, IL and Anthony Nixon and his wife Amy of Charleston, IL; ten grandchildren, Joshua Nixon, Joseph Wade Nixon, Colton Brummer, Jared Brummer, Jack Nixon, Jessica Fitt, Jade Nixon, Jenessa Sylvester, Wyatt Whitley and Addison Nixon; and 1 great-grandchild, Ava Nixon; one sister, Judy Myers of Garrett, IL and two brothers, Dick Nixon and his wife Carol of Oakland, and Gene Nixon and his wife Cora of Westfield, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and one son, Nickey Nixon.
Tommy enjoyed fishing and cooking along with spending time with his family and friends.
