Tina Jo Joergens, 62, of Arcola, IL passed away at 2:10 PM on Monday, July 8, 2024 at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL. 

Per Tina’s wishes, no formal services will be held. Burial will take place in the Arcola Cemetery at a later date. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Tina was born on August 14, 1961 in Champaign, IL. She was the daughter of Gary Wayne Bernard and Rebecca J. (Manuel) Gallivan. She married Steven Neil Joergens on April 29, 1988 in Owensboro, KY.

Survivors include her husband Steve Joergens of Arcola, IL; two children, Gerri Bernard (Spencer Behan) of Brisbane, Australia, and Cory Joergens of Lawrenceville, IL; two stepchildren, Stephanie (Thommy) Garrison of Hendersonville, TN and Stanton Joergens of Lafayette, TN; her father, Gary (Natalie) Bernard, of Decatur, IL; her stepfather Michael Gallivan (Fran Dubson) of Monticello, IL; two sisters Elizabeth (Joe) Kubal of Bourbonnais, IL, and Kathleen (Todd) Burgener of Champaign, IL; her sister-in-law, Arlinda “Linn” Bridges of Reno, NV; four nephews and one niece. 

She was preceded in death by her mother, Rebecca J. (Manuel) Gallivan, and her father- and mother-in-law, Byron “Barney” and Marylin Joergens.

Tina graduated from Bement High School in 1979. She later earned her associate degree from Parkland College and then attended Southern Illinois University, Carbondale for one year. 

She worked in the grocery business for 47 years, getting her start at Eisner/Jewel in the early 1980’s and becoming their first Corporate Pricing Coordinator, then moving to JM Jones/SuperValu in 1988, ending her time there as a General Merchandise Specialist. She then transitioned to Kirby Foods in 1999, where she worked for 25 years and held the position of Advertising Coordinator.

Tina was a voracious reader, finishing thousands of books during her life, and a particular lover of good detective and mystery novels. She cared deeply for the many pets that she owned. She was also an avid crafter, and her beadwork, sewing, and beautiful paper creations were often lovingly gifted to friends and family who will now cherish her handmade designs. She was a devoted wife and an unfailingly supportive and loving mother. Her family will always cherish the time that they had with her. 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to your local library or pet rescue.
