Tiana Gaye “Ti” Harris, 67, of Gays, IL passed away peacefully at 7:40 PM on Sunday, November 30, 2025 at her residence.
Visitation will be held from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM on Wednesday, December 10, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. A Nightingale Tribute conducted by the Central Illinois Nurse Honor Guard will be held at 6:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home followed by the funeral. Decon Jeff Beals will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery at a later date.
Ti was born on December 15, 1957 in Decatur, IL. She was a daughter of Loyd Gayle and Mary Frances (Burtner) Daugherty. She married Steven James Harris on January 13, 1987 in Arthur, IL.
She is survived by her husband, Steve Harris, three children, Marc Christopher (Tina) Nease of Longs, SC, Megan Jeanne (Jason) Holmes of Bay Minette, AL, and Leah Nichole Matheny of Sullivan, IL, nine grandchildren, Brittney (Will) Toenigges, Brandon Nease, Jimmy Nease, Delilah Holmes, Dakota Matheny, Alice Matheny, and Elana, Sean and Kevin Urbina, two great grandsons, Liam Toenigges and Austin Collett, her mother, Mary Daugherty, of Arthur, IL one brother, Dwight R. (Pamela) Daugherty of Tucson, AZ, and a niece, Jennifer Lynn Daugherty.
She was preceded in death by her father, Gayle Daugherty.
Ti touched the lives of many during her long and fulfilling career in healthcare. She began her nursing journey after graduating from Nursing School at Parkland College and then went on to receive her bachelor’s degree. She started her nursing career in pediatrics at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL, where she quickly transitioned to the Emergency Room and would retire as a RN with Trauma Nurse Specialist (TNS) certification after 26½ years of service. Her dedication to patient care led her to work at various healthcare facilities after she retired including Devita Kidney Care of Mattoon and Brookstone in Mattoon, IL. Most recently she spent 6 ½ years as a hospice nurse for Harbor Light Hospice, now Traditions Health, retiring in June 2024.
Known to most as “Mamma Ti”, Ti was a nurturer at heart. She always put others’ needs before her own and was deeply involved in her community. She had been a member of the Arcola Jaycees, the Home Extension in Arthur and the Medical Reserve Care Team of Douglas County, she staged car crashes for area schools for MADD, “Mothers Against Drunk Driving”, along with Participating in numerous Card Clubs.
Ti had a passion for crafting and reading. She enjoyed sipping coffee by the lake each morning. Ti spent countless hours creating cards and crafting personalized t-shirts, bracelets, and macramé Christmas Trees.
Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association in honor of her dad.
