Robert Eugene "Bob" Grove

Robert Eugene “Bob” Grove, 81 of Monticello passed away at 12:02 PM on Sunday, August 2, 2026 at his residence.

Graveside services with Masonic Rites conducted by the Fraternal Lodge #58 of Monticello will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, August 7, 2026 in the Monticello Township Cemetery. Pastor Ed McCammack and Pastor Steve Bradey. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Bob was born on May 27, 1945 in Decatur, IL. He was a son of Dwight Francis and Mardell (Conrad) Grove. He married Sharon Elaine Thompson on October 9, 1965 in Monticello, IL.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Grove of Monticello, IL, one son, Stuart Grove of Lafayette, TN, and a grandson, Keller Grove of Franklin, TN

Preceded in death by his parents and one brother Jack Conrad Grove.

Bob graduated from Monticello High School in 1963. He served in the Illinois National Guard right out of High School.

He worked for over 40 years in Automotive Parts and Service. He retired in 2009 from Horizon Hobby in Champaign, IL.

Bob enjoyed playing golf at the Monticello Golf Club, he won the club championship in 1976. He went on several golf trips with friends to Alabama. He had a hole in one, on a 214-yard par 3 at the University of Illinois Orange Course. He also enjoyed yard work and growing tomatoes.

He is a member of the First Christian Church of Bement. He has been a member of the Fraternal Lodge #58 of Monticello, IL for over 58 years. He is a Past- Worshipful Master and was the youngest man ever to serve as Worshipful Master at that time.
