Orville Thomas Richardson III

Orville Thomas “Orv” Richardson III, 72, of Arcola, IL passed away at 3:45 PM on Sunday, September 14, 2025 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Orv was born on July 14, 1953 in Chicago, IL. He was a son of Orville Thomas Jr. and Frances Angelina (Stumpo) Richardson.

He is survived by one sister, Merry Inez Shain of Mattoon, IL, one niece, Brandy Miller of Mattoon, IL, one nephew, Braden Shain and his wife Julie of Elgin, SC, a great nephew, Anlon Lee Shain of Elgin, SC and his pet parrot named Samantha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and one sister, Philomena Richardson.

Orv graduated from Mattoon High School in 1971. He then attended Lake Land College.

Orv worked at R.R. Donnelley and Sons in Mattoon for over 25 years and retired in 1999. After he retired, he worked in the Prairie Peddler at the Emporium in Arcola.

Orv loved antiquing. He was a homebody with an old soul. He never owned a computer, or had the internet or cable TV. Orv enjoyed spending time with his family and friends, especially his niece and nephew.
