Mary Warfel

Mary Lee Warfel, 81, of Arcola, passed away in her home, on May 11, 2019, with her family by her side.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, May 16, 2019 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., in Arcola, IL.  Dick Miller will officiate.  Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the funeral home.

She was born to parents Lee & Emelia Mae (Schultz) Moody, January 21, 1938 in Champaign. Mary Lee graduated from Unity High School in 1956 and married her High School sweetheart, John Warfel Jr, April 26, 1957.

Mary Lee is survived by her husband of 62 years, her four children: Chris Warfel of Centralia, IL, Sheri (Jeff) Shoemaker of Urbana, IL, Joy (Michael) Holder of Kingston Springs, TN and Kent Warfel of Arcola, IL, five grandchildren: Bryan (Katie) Clark, Tiffany Clark, Stephanie Clark, Adam Holder & Lauren Warfel, and 2 great-grandchildren, Aiden & Ellie Clark. She is also survived by Randy Wright, whom she fostered and raised through high school, her brother, Dave (Suzanne) Moody and sister, Dorothy (Larry) Spence and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Billy Moody and son, Mark Warfel.

Mary Lee was a dedicated farmer's wife & mother.  She was active with many organizations and hobbies including Home Extension, 4-H, sewing, cake decorating & photography. Some of her favorite times were spent traveling and camping with friends & family, as well as singing with the church group from Kemp Church of Christ, where she was a member for over 50 years.

She treasured the time spent with her grandchildren and enjoyed going to their activities and sporting events.
