MARY J. ROGERS, 89, of Arthur, IL passed away at 11:45 A.M. Sunday, December 23, 2007 at Carle Arbours in Savoy, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Saturday, December 29, 2007 at the Vine Street Christian Church in Arthur, IL. Rev. Michael Johnson will officiate. Burial with a committal rite conducted by the American Legion Auxiliary Post 479 will be in the Arthur Cemetery.

Mary was born on December 24, 1917 in Rio Grande County, CO. She was a daughter of John W. and Grace E. (James) Gabhart. She married Raymond Holste Jr. on March 3, 1937 in Elko, NV. He passed away while serving his country during WWII on June 21, 1945. She later married Mervin L. Rogers on December 19, 1950 in North Platte, NE. He passed away on May 15, 1995.

She is survived by two daughters, Carolyn Ecenrode and her husband Norman of Canfield, OH and Janice Pearce and her husband Gale of Arthur, IL; seven grandchildren, Gavin Hutchens of Dallas, TX, Susan Rapp and her husband Lee of Columbus, OH, Tim Pearce and his wife Deborah of St. Charles, IL, Matthew Pearce and his wife Kris of Monticello, IL, Paul Pearce and his wife Katrina of Boling Brook, IL, Christiana Pearce Shields and her husband Bart of Champaign, IL and Catherine Becker and her husband Scott of Mt. Zion, IL; fifteen great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by two husbands, two sisters, Aileen O'Hagan and Audrey Selters and one great-grandson, Ryan Hutchens.

Mary was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary post 479 of Arthur, IL; she was a Gold Star Member and a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church.

She was a homemaker and an accomplished seamstress and very active as a 4-H leader including many trips to the Nebraska State Fair and for 4-H activities.

Memorials may be made to the Arthur Lions Club or the Arthur E.M.T. Association.
