Mary (Garber) Kauffman, 73 of Arthur, IL passed away at 11:03 A.M. on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Private services will be held on Monday, December 7, 2020 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL. Rev. Glen Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery.
Mary was born on April 14, 1947 in Dover, OH. She was a daughter of Eli and Edna (Yoder) Garber. She married Willis Kauffman on March 16, 1970 in Ashville, NC.
She is survived by her husband, Willis, of Arthur, IL, two children, Kathy Kearns and her husband David of Arthur, IL, and Kevin Kauffman and his fiancé Pege Godfrey of Arthur, IL, two grandchildren, Tyler Kearns and his fiancé Sarah Smolinski of Arthur, IL and Scott Kauffman of Effingham, IL, one sister, Martha Mullet and her husband Johnny of Sugarcreek, OH, one step-sister, Laura Kline and her husband Roy of Berlin, OH, three step-brothers, Roy Yoder and his wife Emma of Mt. Hope, OH, Willis Yoder and his wife Anna of Sugarcreek, OH and David Yoder and his wife Nicky of Canton, OH.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eli Garber and Edna Yoder, stepfather, Dave Yoder, two brothers, Vernon Garber and Bob Garber, and three stepbrothers, Jonas Yoder, Floyd Yoder and Owen Yoder.
Mary was a member of the Arthur Mennonite Church.
Mary grew up her whole life in Ohio and in 1975 she moved to Illinois. She worked at Marvin Millers cabinet shop for seven years and at Masterbrand as a sprayer, from 1980 until she retired in 2010.
Mary’s favorite things were making turtles and Christmas candy for anyone, eating Chinese with her close friend, Verna Chupp, visiting her sister Martha in Ohio, and most of all spending time with friends and especially her family.
