Marshall L. Skinner, 91, of Charleston, IL passed away at 2:40 PM on Tuesday, June 23, 2026 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Marshall was born on August 3, 1934, in Newman, IL. He was a son of Don H. and Anna (Powell) Skinner. He married Rita Christian on May 29, 1953, in Champaign, IL, they just celebrated 73 years of marriage.
He is survived by his wife of 73 years, Rita Skinner, three children, Mike Skinner and his wife Carol, Jim Skinner and his wife Vickie, and Teresa Sims and her husband Mike, nine grandchildren, Misty Manning and her husband David, Jason Skinner and his wife Amber, Kendall Goebel and her husband Jon, Jamie Schneider and her husband David, Derek Skinner and his wife Kelsey, Brooke Bueker and her husband Joe, Brittany Montz and her husband Jackson, Michelle Sims, and Adam Sims and his wife Nicole, two step-grandchildren, Kristy Piel and her husband Jason, and Jami Manning and his wife James, 17 great-grandchildren, three step- great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandchild, and two arriving in September, one step-great-great-grandchild, one sister, Martha Allison, and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, Don Skinner, Carl Skinner, Howard Skinner and Joe Skinner, one grandson, and one great grandson.
Marshall worked as a coal miner for several years. He was known as Mr. Fix it, always willing to help anyone who needed help. Marshall enjoyed fishing, hunting and playing cards with family and friends.
The family would like to acknowledge Odd Fellow Rebekah Home for their excellent care that Marshall received during his stay there.
