Marquitta Ann “Skeets” Mulrooney, 86, of Decatur, IL formerly of Arcola, IL passed away at 12:25 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2026 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 PM on Wednesday, January 21, 2026 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. Chaplin Joe Bowman will officiate. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the funeral home.
Marquitta was born on January 19, 1939 near Kemp, IL. She was a daughter of Charles Lee and Melba V. (Dickey) Herrington. She married Roy Hollarbush in the mid 60s in Minneapolis, MN. She later married Joseph Patrick Mulrooney.
She is survived by one son, C. Patrick Mulrooney (Richelle) of Decatur, IL, two step grandchildren, Samantha Raines (Shandra) of Hutsonville, IL and Andrea Langford of Decatur, IL, two nephews, Mitch Harrington of Las Vegas, NV, and Michael Herrington of Cedar Park, TX, one sister-in-law, Supap Herrington of Las Vegas, NV.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Roy Hollerbush, Joseph Patrick Mulrooney, one granddaughter, Kaitlyn Mulrooney, daughter-in-law, Julie Ann Mulrooney and a brother, Don Lee Herrington.
Marquitta graduated from Arcola High School in 1957 and went on to attend the University of Illinois. She lived in Minnesota for a few years until the passing of her first husband. She then met and married Joseph Mulrooney. They lived in St. Louis, MO, before returning to Illinois, where they resided in Champaign and West Mount.
She worked as a real estate broker and the owner of Mulrooney Real Estate in Champaign, IL, where she served for five years. Following her time as a business owner, Marquitta worked at the Champaign County Housing Authority, managing elderly housing for five to six years.
Upon retiring from her work in Champaign, Marquitta moved to Arcola where she spent seven years, and later relocated to Decatur, where she lived for the past seven to eight years next to her son.
In her free time, Marquitta enjoyed sewing and reading books. She had a talent for creating clothing and took pleasure in making suits and all kinds of various garments.
