Maria Del Carmen Lira

Maria Del Carmen Lira, 72, of Arcola, IL passed away at 3:37 PM on Thursday, October 16, 2025 at her residence.

Private services will be held at a later date.

Maria was born on September 12, 1953 in Cadereyta, Mexico. She was a daughter of Lorenzo and Maria Del Carmen (Elizondo) Martinez. She married Jose Luis Lira on November 17, 2017 in Tuscola, IL.

She is survived by her husband, Jose Lira of Arcola, IL, five children, Marycarmen Tamez and her husband Jose of Arcola, IL, Annabel Martinez and her husband Santiago of Tuscola, IL, Valeria Henry and her husband Dilner of Arcola, Valente Garcia and his wife Erika of Arcola, IL and Aldo Garcia of Arcola, IL, 17 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister, Dolores Martinez.

Maria enjoyed playing bingo and traveling. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
