LEWIS F. SCHLABACH, 83, of Sullivan, IL passed away at 7:30 P.M. on Friday, February 7, 2014 at his residence in rural Sullivan, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 9:00 A.M. on Monday, February 10, 2014 at the Willard Schlabach residence, in the pallet shop, 1306 CR 1850 N, in rural Sullivan, IL. Bishop William Otto will officiate. Burial will be in the Gingerich Cemetery in rural Sullivan, IL. Visitation will be any time prior to the funeral in the pallet shop.

Lewis was born on June 21, 1930 in Arthur, IL. He was a son of Fred D. and Mary (Yoder) Schlabach. He married Mattie Mast on March 12, 1953 in Arthur, IL

Survivors include his wife Mattie Schlabach of Sullivan, IL, five children, Glen Dale Schlabach and his wife Irene of Arthur, IL, Mary Katherine Schlabach of Sullivan, IL, Linda Kay Herschberger and her husband Gary of Arthur, IL Willard Laverne Schlabach and his wife Alma of Sullivan, IL and Nancy Arlene Gingerich and her husband Ruben of Tuscola, IL; twenty grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Willard Schlabach and his wife Esther of Ava, IL, Daniel Schlabach and his wife Verna of Atwood, IL, Eli Schlabach and his wife Rebecca of Arthur, IL and Harley Schlabach and his wife Maryetta of Arthur, IL; four sisters, Abbie Beachy and her husband Jacob of Newaygo, MI, Sadie Plank and her husband Harvey of Arcola, IL, Annie Ellen Otto and her husband Melvin of Arthur, IL and Fannie Marie Schlabach of Arthur, IL; one step-brother, John Henry Yoder and his wife Ada of Middlebury, IN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Lena Schrock and her husband Ben, one grandson-in-law, Ruben Rocke and his step-mother, Mattie J. Yoder-Schlabach.

Lewis was a farmer and always had a strawberry patch on the farm.

Lewis was a member of the Old Order Amish Faith.
