Leona Kay Liggett

Leona Kay Liggett, 63, of Humboldt, IL passed away at 8:57 PM on Friday, May 15, 2026 at her residence.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Wednesday, May 27, 2026 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. Graveside services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the Brown Cemetery in Edgewood, IL.

Leona was born on June 14, 1962 in Mattoon, IL. She was a daughter of Earl D. and Virginia Leona (Jones) Liggett.

She is survived by two sisters, Mickey Liggett and Deborah Liggett both of Humboldt, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Virgina Liggett.

Leona was a graduate of Mattoon High School, class of 1980.

Leona was known for her kindness and openness. She never knew a stranger and could easily talk to anyone, a quality she inherited from her father. She had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dachshunds Toby, Tyler, Wyatt, and Maverick. Spending time with them was one of her greatest joys.

Leona enjoyed baking cookies and cakes, she enjoyed colorful plants, planting new flowers every summer, purple flowers being her favorite. She also loved attending fall festivals and concerts, with Aerosmith being her favorite band.

Memorials may be made to anything to do with animals.
