Kay Pointon, 72 of Charleston, IL passed away at 5:33 PM on Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.
Memorial service will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 10, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service, from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM on Sunday at the funeral home.
Kay was born on June 9, 1953 in Butte, MT. She was the daughter of Everett Willaim Sr. and Thursa Marie (Guy) Ealy. She married Carl Barnes Pointon Jr. on January 6, 1974 in Rolling Prairie, IN. He passed away on January 4, 2016.
She is survived by four children, Steven Pointon and his wife Lynn of Mattoon, IL, Michael Pointon and his wife Sandy of Charleston, IL, Dennis Pointon and his wife Cherry of Marcus IA, and Thursa Nailing and her husband Robert of Decatur, IL, 21 grandchildren (Jennifer, Stephanie, Jonathan, Matthew, Cody, Faith, Noah, Brayden, Brooklynn, Elijah, Isaiah, Madelyn, Violet, Romiro, Gabriella, Kamila, Niko, Giovanni, Ray, Lucinda, Laken), 11 great grandchildren (Grayce, Alyvia, Sophia, Raven, Sier, Amiah, Kenyon, Jakhaylon, Jakhi, Khinslee, Ariya) and two brothers, David Ealy and his wife Sandy of Perrysville, IN and Everett William Ealy Jr. and his wife Linda of Kansas, IL. Numerous nieces and nephews. Her four best friends of 20+ years Toni Peadro, Barbara Maples, Sonja Walters & Shirley Stafford.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, an infant daughter, Ann Elizabeth Pointon, and four siblings, William Ealy, Danny Ealy, Charles Ealy and Suzanne York. Her beloved dogs Buttercup and Gabby and Quacker Parrot Pretty-Boy.
Kay was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Mattoon, IL, where she helped in the daycare.
She had worked as a nurse at We Care in Arcola for several years before accepting a position at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center before retiring in 2009.
Kay had many parakeets and cockatiel birds and her three beloved dogs Abby, Harry, Lukie. She enjoyed crocheting but most of all spending time with her grandchildren, Brayden and Brooklynn spent most of their free time at Mimi's house.
