Karen Sue Clemmons, 77, of Normal, IL peacefully went home to be with her Lord Jesus at 2:52 a.m. March, 7, 2024 at home surrounded by her family and friends following a years-long battle with cancer. 

Karen was born on July 25, 1946 in Bloomington, Illinois, the daughter of Merle and Wilma  (Amstutz) Ringenberg.  Karen attended Lexington Community School District where she met, and eventually married Ronnie Gene Clemmons on May 6, 1967, he survives. The two celebrated over 56 years together as a married couple. She is survived by daughter, Staci (Rob) Sears of Firestone, CO, son Matthew (Christina) Clemmons of Greeley, CO, granddaughters Chantelle Clemmons of Indianapolis, IN, Erin Cannady of Firestone, CO, and great-granddaughter, Emberlynn Ridner also of Indianapolis, IN.   She is survived by two brothers, Donald (Linda) Ringenberg of Sanger, TX, Herb (Robin) Ringenberg of Normal, IL.  Others include many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, all of whom were her favorite. Karen was preceded in death by her beloved daughter, Rebecca (Jake) Clemmons Stubbs, her parents, her sister, Barbara Jean Ringenberg Leeper Harrison, and sister-in-law, Linda (Mallory) Ringenberg.   

After working as a homemaker for 16 years, Karen returned to State Farm Insurance Companies for 22 years where she worked into her favorite role of programmer.  Karen was actively involved in her church, Bible Study Fellowship, and the Pearlie Girlies.  She was an award-winning pianist, seamstress, baker, and quilter. She was a member of the Hands All Around Quilting Guild of Bloomington, IL.  Karen was renowned for her abilities to create the highest quality work in many modalities whether sewing a custom bag or coupon sorter, baking epic pies, creating countless quilts to gift to fortunate recipients, and playing piano for church and church groups. 

Karen’s family is profoundly grateful for the decades of friendship and overwhelming support of Barbara McElroy.  The family also acknowledges the incredible caring and support received from the staff with Gentiva Hospice.  

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 12, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. and 10:00-11:00 Wednesday, March 13, 2024 at Eastview Christian Church, 1500 Airport Road in Normal, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March, 13, 2024, also at Eastview Christian Church with burial services following at Evergreen Memorial Cemetery, 302 E Miller St, Bloomington, IL.  The Edwards Funeral Home of Arcola, IL assisting with arrangements.  

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or Eastview Christian Church for mission trips.
