KAREN R. DAILY, 85, of Arthur, IL passed away at 9:38 A.M. Tuesday, July 2, 2024 at Odd Fellow Rebekah Home in Mattoon, IL.

Visitation will be held from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St. in Arcola, IL. Visitation will also be held at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church one hour before the funeral, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, July 8, 2024 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 8975 East County Road 1200 North, Mattoon, IL. Rev. Daniel Ulrich will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Grove Cemetery, Cooks Mills, IL. 

Karen was born July 13, 1938 in Mattoon, IL. She was a daughter of Dale and Martha (Holtze) Lanphier. She married Francis Loyd Daily on April 15, 1962 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Dorans. He passed away on February 24, 2000. 

Survivors include three daughters Kay Horn and her husband Daniel of Mattoon, IL, Lynn Funck and her husband David of Cincinnati, OH and Jean Taylor and her husband Tracy of Arthur, IL; six grandchildren Trenton Horn and his wife Kim, Trevor Horn and his wife Elizabeth, Terra Johnson and her husband William, Adam Funck and his wife Alondra, Kaitlyn Funck and Daisy Taylor; three step-grandchildren Hollie Atchison, Sheena Hogan and her husband Adam and Bridget Taylor and Matt Sanders; six great-grandchildren and five step great-grandchildren, and three siblings Yvonne Pfeiffer and her husband Robert of Strasburg, IL, Velma Price and her husband Dave of Mattoon, IL and Wayne Lamphier and his wife Brenda of Humboldt, IL.

Her parents and her husband preceded her in death.

Following her graduation from Mattoon High School in 1956 she attended Utterback Business College. 

Karen was a life-long member of the St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church. She was also a member of the Ladies Aid at her church and the Coles County Extension. 

Karen was a farm wife and homemaker. Through the years she and her husband taxied Amish and were well known in the community. Karen enjoyed visiting with anyone. She was a loyal, hardworking, practical, reliable, no-nonsense woman. She could surprise you with what she’d say. Her unique wit made people laugh while she remained stoic. She loved traveling, reading and word search puzzles. Karen will be missed.

The family would like to thank the staff of Carriage Crossing in Arcola and the Odd Fellow-Rebekah Home in Mattoon for their care of Karen.
