Jaylen Cole Otto, 12 of rural Mattoon, IL passed away at 5:47 P.M. on Friday, May 1, 2026, at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Monday, May 4, 2026, at the Arthur Christian School, 1637 IL 133, Arthur, IL. and from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, also at the Arthur Christian School. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, at the Arthur Christian School. Pastor Doug Fultz will officiate. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Jaylen was born on May 13, 2013, in Urbana, IL, the son of Eldon Ray and Kendra Eileen (Miller) Otto.
He is survived by his parents, Eldon and Kendra Otto; one sister, Ava Grace Otto; maternal grandparents, Kenneth E. and Dorothy A. Miller; paternal grandparents, David Lynn and Carol Otto; four uncles and one aunt from his mom’s side of the family, Keith Miller, Kevin (Lyndora) Miller, Kyle (Alicia) Miller, Kenton (Rhonda) Miller and Katrina (Matthew) Gingerich; one aunt and two uncles from his dad’s side of the family, Marietta (Daniel) Kaufman, Darrell (Rachel) Otto, and Glenn Otto, special friend, Caitlan, his paternal step-great-grandmother, Fannie Otto, several cousins and many friends.
He was preceded in death by his Maternal great-grandparents, Elmer S. and Amanda Jane (Herschberger) Miller and Andy A. and Edna C. (Bontrager) Miller, his paternal great-grandparents, Amos D. and Katherine M. (Diener) Otto and Noah S. Mattie J. (Miller) Brenneman, and an uncle, Marlin Otto.
Jaylen was a member of the Solid Rock Church in Sullivan where he was very active in the youth group. He was a 7th grader at the Arthur Christian School where he played first base and outfield for the baseball team, and he was a point guard on the basketball team.
Jaylen was a very loving brother to his sister Ava. He enjoyed fishing, swimming, and riding his four-wheeler. He was a growing young man who loved to eat, he was full of energy and he was always happy. He loved spending time with his friends and family.
Memorials may be made to the Solid Rock Church.
