Biography

JAMES HENSLEY, 64 of Arcola, IL passed away at 9:56 P.M. on Friday, October 25, 2013 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the Edwards Funeral Home. Rev. Ivan Jess will officiate. Burial with military rites will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Tuesday, October 29, 2013 at the funeral home.

Jim was born on July 6, 1949 in Marion, IN. He was a son of James Lee and Patsy Ruth (Roberson) Hensley. He married Brenda J. Davis on June 8, 1968 in Arcola, IL

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Hensley of Arcola, IL; three children, Samantha Galvin, Christy Johns and her husband Larry, and Scott Hensley and his wife Susi all of Arcola, IL; nine grandchildren, Josh, Corey and Stephanie Roberts, Sidney, Alayna and Emma Johns and Isabelle, Lillian and Molly Hensley; one brother, Robert Hensley and his wife Amy of Charleston, IL and two sisters, Margaret Clapp of Charleston, IL and Betty Hensley of Oakland, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

Jim graduated from Oakland High School in 1967. He was an Army Veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned the Bronze Star. He owned and operated Hensley’s Automotive in Arcola, IL for several years. He enjoyed guns and hunting.

Jim was a loving and devoted husband and father. He loved his children and grandchildren and always looked forward to spending time with them.

He was a member of the Wounded Warrior Project and the American Legion in Mattoon, IL
