HARRIET “LOVIE” JONES, 94 of Humboldt, IL passed away at 7:05 P.M. on Friday, May 19, 2017 at the Harmony Center in Mattoon, IL

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, May 23, 2017 at the Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola, IL.  Rev. Joy Starwalt will officiate.  Burial will be in the Humboldt Cemetery.  Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Lovie was born on November 1, 1922 in Douglas County, IL.   She was a daughter of Harry and Nellie Irene (Howard) Swisher.   She married Merlin E. “Mutt” Jones on April 14, 1942 in St. Charles, MO.   He passed away on August 16, 2007.

Lovie is survived by two children, William “Bill” Jones and his wife Janet of Atwood, IL and Linda Thompson of Humboldt, IL; three grandchildren, Jamie Beck and her husband Darin of Humboldt, IL, Jeff Jones and his wife Denise of Tuscola, IL and Kyle Jones and his wife Kim of Villa Grove, IL; five great-grandchildren, Holly Alwardt, Strader Jones, Chase Jones, Kirstyn Jones and Kaitlyn Harshbarger; two great-great-grandchildren, Kyson and Kayden Travis and one sister, Mabel Bennett of Humboldt, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Merlin “Mutt” Jones, one grandson, Doug Jones, four brothers, Bill, Wayne, Paul and Art Swisher and two sisters, Myrtle Grove and Jessie Bass.

Lovie had been a member of the American Legion Auxiliary of Mattoon, IL and the Women of the Moose of Mattoon, IL.

Lovie was a lifelong resident of the Humboldt, IL area.  She enjoyed sewing and crocheting.  She was well known for making divinity candy and she was an avid collector of Beanie Babies.

The family would like to thank Penny, Mel and Crystal from the Harmony Center for taking extra special care of Lovie.

Memorials may be made to the Harmony Center at the Odd Fellow Rebekah Home.
