Glen was marked by a quiet generosity and kindness. Few things in life gave him more joy than giving to individuals and organizations in need. You could not share a meal with him without the bill being quietly paid for. He truly lived out Matthew 6:3-4, “But when you give to someone in need, don’t let your left hand know what your right hand is doing. Give your gifts in private, and your Father, who sees everything, will reward you.” He was an incredibly hard worker building his concrete construction company for 34 years and running a café with his wife, children, and grandkids for 13 years. He loved his family dearly – always supporting and cheering them on in their different endeavors, while sharing with his friends about how proud he was of his kids and grandkids. He loved attending sporting events as he quietly cheered them on from the sideline, while making sure his wife didn’t yell at the referees too loudly. His gentle kindness was always so apparent when spending time with his grandchildren.
Glen attended Vineyard Church in Sullivan, IL and loved his church family. He was an avid supporter of Arthur Christian School serving on its school board for many years. He enjoyed watching the news, Hallmark movies, and the farming channel. He spoke with fond memories of the first car he ever bought, a 1968 Chevelle SS. He loved a good campfire and smoking cigars in his backyard with his sons.
Above all, he left a legacy of a life lived for Jesus. He would be the first to highlight some of his mistakes, but followed by the forgiveness and hope found in Jesus. He didn’t just share it, he lived it. Through his consistent and perseverant friendship to those friends who had wandered away from God, his consistent choice of forgiveness in tough circumstances, his quiet generosity, his kindness to all, his commitment to always help and serve anyone who needed it, and his deep love and care for his family, it all spoke of his deep devotion to his God, King, and friend, Jesus.
