Frank W. Hubner

Frank W. Hubner, 80, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 9:36 AM on Sunday, August 17, 2025 at Willow Breeze Hospice House in Mattoon, IL.

A service to honor Frank’s life will be held at 7:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. The family will receive friends for a time of visitation one hour prior to the service from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the funeral home.

Frank was born on April 18, 1945 in Shelby County, IL, the youngest son of Fred L. and Cecilla “Babe” (McGuar) Hubner. He married Ada B. Lee on May 2, 1974. She preceded him in death on May 5, 2016.

He is survived by two step daughters, Sheila Adams of Mattoon, IL and Annette Nolen and her husband Jeffrey of Goldsboro, NC, eight grandkids, 19 great grandkids, eight great great grandkids, and a sister, Dorothy Fleshner and her husband George of Shelbyville, IL.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, his brothers, Roy Hubner and Donald Hubner and a stepson, Harry G. Thorn. 

Frank was a Navy Veteran.

Frank retired after working 36 years for Illinois Consolidated Telephone Company as a switchman. He was a dog lover, owner of Sam when he was in high school, and two poodles, Fluffy and Baby that he and Ada adored.

Frank was mechanically inclined and was always quick to help others.
