Floria Gibson

FLORIA GIBSON, 91, of Arcola, IL, formerly of Jellico, TN passed away at 5:20 A.M. on Friday, January 9, 2015 at the Arcola Health Care Center.

Funeral service were held at 2:00 P.M. on Sunday, January 11, 2015 at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel, 572 South Main, in Jellico, TN. Rev. Adam Hunley officiated. Burial was in the Warren’s Memorial Garden in Elk Valley, TN. Visitation was held from noon until service time at the Harp Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday. The Edwards Funeral Home assisted with local arrangements.

Floria was born on April 3, 1923 in Elk Valley TN. She was a daughter of David and Bessie (Nash) Baird. She married Leon Gibson. He passed away on September 11, 1969.

Floria is survived by two children, Patricia Willison and her husband Rex and Lewis “Buster” Gibson all of Arcola, IL; seven grandchildren, Theresa Sisk and her husband Paul of Arcola, IL, Robert Ard and his wife Libby of Oakland, IL, Amy, Michael, Jimmy, and Michelle Gibson all of Gary, IN and Johnny Stratton of TN; nine great-grandchildren, Dallas and Kacie Sisk and Caleb and Breann Ard, Austin and Megan Gibson and Christina, Megan and Christopher Stratton; one sister Aline Ford of Elk Valley, TN; one brother, Luther Baird of Elk Valley, TN and a son-in-law, Barry Stratton of Schererville, IN.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, her husband, a daughter, Peggy Stratton, a grandson, Timmy Gibson and ten siblings, Oscar Baird, L&M Baird, Mencie Jane Baird, Susie Sharp, Dewie Baird, Sherman Baird, Howard Baird, her twin brother, Ernest Baird, Ollie Sharp and Delmus Baird.

Floria retired as a seamstress at Winer Manufacturing in Hammond, IN. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, fishing and spending time with her family.
