EVELYN SUE CARLEN, 95 of Charleston, IL passed away at 10:20 P.M. on July 4, 2025 at the Haven of Arcola, IL

Visitation will be held from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, July 10, 2025 at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery.

Evelyn was born on July 13, 1929 in Old Hickory, TN, a daughter of Wilburn Horace and Nelle Jane (Stubblefield) Johnson.

She is survived by three children, Larry Dean Johns Sr. and his wife Dana of Charleston, IL, Linda Sue Carnahan of Oakland, IL and James Russel Johns and his wife Patty of Ashmore, IL, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 15 great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Denny Johnson and his wife Patricia of Hindsboro, IL, and a sister, Joan DeDominick of Dallas, Oregon.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Pamela Kay Staggs, one grandson, James Dean Johns, and one sister, Betty Warner.

Evelyn worked as a waitress at Wolfe Drug Store on the Square in Charleston, IL and at the Dog N Suds in Charleston, IL. She had also driven a semi as an owner operator and had worked for National Car Rental out of Coles County Airport.

She enjoyed gardening and spending time with her family.
