ELMER A. SCHROCK, 84, of Arthur, IL passed away at 9:51 AM on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at The Arthur Home.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, May 12, 2025 at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church, 477 IL US Route 133, Arcola, IL. Pastor Brian Petersheim and Pastor Mike Helmuth will officiate. Burial will be in the Sunnyside Mennonite Church Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Sunday, May 11, 2025 at Sunnyside Mennonite Church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Elmer was born on September 11, 1940 in Arthur, IL, a son of Abraham and Elizabeth (Stutzman) Schrock. He married Voleta Bixler on June 9, 1962 in Walnut Creek, OH.
He is survived by his wife, Voleta; three children, Steve Schrock and his wife Kim of Post Falls, ID, Pete Schrock and his wife Julie of Summit, NJ, and Beth Miller and her husband Steve of Lovington, IL; nine grandchildren, Ashley Cheves, Christopher and Mackayla George, Victoria George, Michael George and Madison Schrock, Jessica and Kyle Peterson, Michael and Darlene Miller, Keisha Miller, and Sheri Miller; four great-grandchildren, Annabelle George, Dexter George, Oliver George, and Heidi Peterson; one sister, Mary Helmuth and her husband Milton of Hoschton, GA, and three sisters-in-law, Ada Schrock of Bemidji, MN, Margaret Schrock of Travares, FL, and Marie Schrock of Arthur, IL
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Dave, Omer, and Wilmer Schrock and one sister, Cleora Schrock. He was also preceded in death by one grandchild, Kyle Schrock.
Elmer was a member of the North Vine Mennonite Church, and The Gideons International. Being involved in the local church and school was important to Elmer. He served as a treasurer at North Vine for many years. He also served on the school board and the finance committee of Arthur Mennonite School over the span of 25 years. He had a generous heart and supported many ministries throughout the years.
Elmer grew up in Arthur, IL and worked in the drywall industry for almost 18 years before opening Tool World. Elmer supplied drywallers for miles around with the supplies and tools needed to perform their craft. Elmer has perfected many of the tools used in the drywall industry today. He and Voleta owned and operated Tool World in Arthur, IL for over 54 years.
Elmer’s hobbies include reading, grilling, and tinkering on drywall tools.
His main focus in life was serving His Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and spreading the Gospel.
