Biography

ELBERT T. “TED” MICK, 76 of Plantation, FL formerly of Tuscola, IL passed away at 7:58 P.M. on Monday July 7, 2014 at the West Side Regional Hospital in Plantation, FL.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main in Arcola, IL. Rev. Kenneth Roedder will officiate. Burial will be in the Tuscola Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, prior to the funeral at the funeral home. Masonic Rites conducted by the Tuscola Masonic Lodge #322 AF an AM will be held at 12:30 P.M. on Saturday, prior to the visitation at the funeral home.

Ted was born on October 26, 1937 in Harrisburg, IL. He was a son of Ira B. and Mary M. (Herpel) Mick. He married Gayle Guyer on December 4, 1954 in Annapolis, IL.

Ted is survived by his wife, Gayle Mick of Plantation, FL; two sons, Stephen Mick and his wife Donna of Plantation, FL and Glen Mick and his wife Julie of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; two granddaughters, Erica Mick and Natalie Mick, one sister, Linda Coale and her husband Jim of Hutsonville, IL; a brother-in-law R. Warren Guyer and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Ted was a member of the Tuscola United Methodist Church and was an associate member of the Plantation United Methodist Church. He was very active in Church as well as the Lions Club where he served as past District 1E Governor. He was a member and past Master of the Tuscola Masonic Lodge #332 AF and AM.

Ted worked at USI in Tuscola, IL for over 40 years, retiring in 1997 as a Maintenance Mechanic.

Memorials may be made to the Tuscola United Methodist Church or the Tuscola Lions Club.
