DORIS RICH, 82 of Arthur, IL passed away at 4:41 P.M. on Saturday, May 3, 2025 at her residence surrounded by family.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 P.M. on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 at Penn Station in Arthur, IL. Burial will be in the Arthur Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. on Wednesday at Penn Station. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Doris was born on December 2, 1942 in Scottsville, KY. She was a daughter of Roy Edward and Flossie Myrtle (York) Binion. She married John Phillip Rich on October 3, 1959 in Arthur, IL, he passed away on June 2, 1988.

Doris is survived by three children, Cheryl Annette Scheffer and her husband Tommy of Arthur, IL, Christina Jo Stoltz and her husband Richard of Atwood, IL, and Chad Philip Rich and his wife Julie of Mattoon, IL; seven grandchildren, Ben Conner of Arthur, IL, Daniel Rea and his wife Carlie of Moweaqua, IL, Justin Kingery and his wife Dawn of Arthur, IL, Waylon Kingery and his wife Lacey of Atwood, IL, Dylon Kingery of Atwood, IL, Rhiannon Douglas and Emlyn Rich both of Mattoon, IL; eight great-grandchildren, Anthony, Chloe, Bowen, Britny, Paige, Maddie, Hadley, and Archer, one great-great-grandson, Braxton; one brother, Wilburn Binion of Sullivan, IL and several nieces, nephews and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Phil Rich, one sister, Clarine Howard and six brothers Neal Binion, Donald Binion, Hillious “Red” Binion, Robert Binion, Billy Binion, and James Binion.

Doris became a beautician in 1968, and operated Doris’s Beauty Salon from her home for many years. In 1988, after Phil passed away Doris went to work at Schrock Cabinets in Arthur, IL. She retired from there (Masterbrand) after many years of service.

Doris was a member of the Arthur First Baptist Church, and the Lovington American Legion.

Back in the day, Doris did a lot of sewing and making dresses for her girls. She enjoyed camping at Shelbyville and later at Clinton. She also enjoyed listening to her favorite bands, dancing and having a good time with friends, her family, children, grandchildren, her brothers, nieces, and nephews. She always made the holidays special, everyone always looked forward to her 4th of July parties, and Christmas at her house was always something her family looked forward to.

Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
