Dolress Shields

DOLRESS “JO” SHIELDS, 72, of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:33 P.M. on Saturday, February 24, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, March 1, 2018 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL.  Pastor Brent Budd will officiate.  Burial will follow in the Arcola Cemetery.  Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the funeral home.

Jo was born on August 9, 1945 in Tuscola, IL.  She was a daughter of Herman and Lilly Mae (Davis) Brandon.  She married Andrew Jackson “A.J.” Shields on September 25, 1964 in Arcola, IL.

Survivors include her husband: A.J. Shields, three sons: Andrew Jackson Shields III, Keith M. Shields and his wife Carrie and Matthew B. Shields all of Arcola, IL, three grandchildren: Kali Jo Shields, Dylan Shields and Briana Shields, and two great-grandchildren: Aubree Spears and Arrow Spears and two sisters: Joye Barcus and her husband Ward of Champaign, IL and Toni White and her husband Roger of Fort Pierce, FL.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one son: Dustin Shields, one grandchild: Azaea Rain Shields, and five sisters: Darlene, Jane, Jessie, Jan and June.

Jo had worked as a waitress at the Kaskaskia Country Club for many years.  She enjoyed cooking, sewing and shopping; but most of all she enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren.
