Darrell Lester Little

Darrell Little, 66, of Charleston, IL passed away at 4:40 PM on Tuesday, September 15, 2026 at Sarah Bush Lincoln Health Center in Mattoon, IL.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, September 21, 2026 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St., Arcola, IL, followed by the funeral starting at 11:00 AM. Rev. Doug McClellan will officiate. Burial will be in the Broadus Cemetery in rural Camargo, IL.

Darrell was born on April 9, 1960 in Urbana, IL. He was a son of Byron and Chlora (Chapman) Little.

He is survived by his parents, Byron and Chlora Little of Arcola, IL, one sister, Michele Lindenmeyer and her husband Mitch of Urbana, IL, nieces and nephews, Jordan, Jaryd and Kaurie Lindenmeyer, and Brandon, Justin and Morgan Hobgood, great nieces, great nephews, several aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Angela Little, maternal grandparents, Earl and Mary Chapman and paternal grandparents, John and Vivian Little.

Darrell graduated from Arcola High School in 1978 and went on to attend Eastern Illinois University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree as a Medical Technician.

His first job after college was in pathology, working for a forensic pathologist in Springfield, a role he truly enjoyed. He later worked at several hospitals in the area before relocating to the Roanoke, Virginia area to pursue a career in computer technology. He served Hospitals in that area for over 32 years. After retiring, he moved back to Charleston, IL and accepted a position at Paris Hospital.

While living in Virginia, Darrell enjoyed camping and hiking along the Appalachian Trail. He also loved photography and, at one time, took college photos throughout the United States. In addition, he enjoyed shortwave radio, belonged to a shortwave radio club, and took part in shortwave radio contests.
