Darrell Eveland

DARRELL ROSCOE EVELAND, 70, of Atwood, IL passed away at 3:56 A.M. on Sunday, December 3, 2017 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.

A Celebration of Darrell’s life will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at the First Baptist Church, 231 North Illinois St, in Atwood, IL.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time at the church on Thursday.   The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Darrell was born on January 26, 1947 in Robinson, IL.   He was a son of Roscoe and Lucy Mae (Dunlap) Eveland.   He married Bertha Ann Ziegler on January 17, 1969 in Robinson, IL.

Survivors include his wife Bertha, three daughters, Michelle West (Randy) of Cerro Gordo, IL, Karen Owens and Mendy Eveland (MyLynda) all of Atwood, IL; eight grandchildren, Justin Eveland, Joshua Like, Jennifer Like, Blake West, Wade Haanpaa, Cheyenne Haanpaa, Alicia Starr and Austin Webb; 6 great grandchildren, three sisters, Joyce Rigg of Zolfo Springs, FL, Sandee Mitchell of Attica, IN and Melody Ramsey of Robinson, IL; one step-brother, Danny Eveland of Willow Hill, IL and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents two brothers, Everett and Charles Eveland and one sister, Patsy Kirk.

Darrell was an army veteran having served two years with an Engineering Battalion in Germany.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Palestine, IL and the Pipefitter’s Union local 157 out of Terre Haute, IN.

Darrell retired as a pipefitter after 37 years having worked with JL Allen and Hoke Construction.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, fishing, hunting, working crossword puzzles and hunting mushrooms.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to his family in care of Bertha Eveland and mailed to P.O. box 82, Atwood, IL 61913.
