Cheryl Lynn Johnson

Cheryl Lynn Johnson, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away on September 14, 2026, at Carle Hospital in Champaign, Illinois. She was born on July 13, 1958, to William Puckett and Augusta Lee.

Cheryl was a woman who was truly one of a kind. Throughout her life, she faced hardships and circumstances that were not always easy, but she never allowed them to take away her ability to see the good in life. Cheryl carried a positive outlook with her and had a strength within her that carried her through even the most difficult days.

Above all else, Cheryl loved her family. She had a heart that was bigger than words could ever express and would give the shirt off her back to anyone she loved. She cared deeply for the people around her and never hesitated to help when someone needed her. Her family was one of the greatest sources of love and meaning in her life.

Anyone who knew Cheryl will remember her contagious laugh and her unforgettable personality. She was loving and kind, but she was also a true spitfire—strong-willed, full of life, and never afraid to let you know exactly what she thought. Her personality could light up a room, and the memories she created with those around her will be cherished for generations to come.

Cheryl found happiness in the things she loved. She adored her dogs and considered them part of her family. She loved decorating her home and putting her own personal touch on everything around her. She enjoyed watching scary movies and finding comfort and entertainment in the simple pleasures of everyday life. She had a way of turning ordinary moments into memories that her loved ones will carry with them forever.

Cheryl is survived by her children, James Bialeschki, Jessy Bialeschki, Kyle Puckett, Josh Bialeschki and Heather Thompson; her 20 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren and one on the way; and her siblings, Damion Lee of Champaign, John Buck Lee of Rantoul, and Diane Foote of Decatur.

She was preceded in death by her parents, William Puckett and Augusta Lee, and her brother, Rickey Lee Puckett.

Though Cheryl's life was not always an easy one, she continued to love fiercely, laugh loudly, and give so much of herself to the people she cared about. Her family will forever remember the sound of her laugh, her fiery spirit, her kindness, and the countless little moments that made her who she was.

Her passing leaves an emptiness that cannot be filled. There will be days when her family wishes for just one more phone call, one more laugh, one more conversation, or simply one more ordinary day with her. But the love Cheryl gave so freely will remain long after her passing.

She will live on in the hearts of her children, grandchildren, siblings, and everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved her. Her stories will be told, her laughter will be remembered, and the memories she created will be treasured forever.

Cheryl Lynn Johnson was, and always will be, one of a kind.

She was deeply loved, she will be deeply missed, and she will never be forgotten.

A Celebration of Cheryl’s Life will begin at 4:00 P.M. Sunday, October 11, 2026 at Crystal Lake Park, 206 West Park Street in Urbana, IL.
