Carolyn Elaine Traxler, 81 of Arthur, IL passed away at 3:13 AM on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Decatur, IL.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Friday, November 11, 2022 at the Arthur United Methodist Church, 128 East Illinois in Arthur, IL.  Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 12, 2022 at the church.  Rev. Leroy Allison will officiate.  Burial will be in the Cerro Gordo Cemetery.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Carolyn was born on October 6, 1941 in Decatur, IL.  She was a daughter of Wayne and Lorene (Ford) Oliver.  She married Gary K. Traxler on February 5, 1961 in Casner, IL.  He passed away on September 30, 2014.
Carolyn is survived by two children, Brian Traxler, and Lori Finley and her husband Greg, all of Arthur, IL, two grandchildren, Nicole Greuel and her husband Jared of Mattoon, IL and Justin Finley and his wife Heather of Galton, IL, five great-grandchildren, Mason, Carson, MacKenna, May and Allie, and one brother, Roger Oliver and his wife Jeanette of Decatur, IL.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband.

Carolyn graduated from Cerro Gordo High School in 1959.  She attended Business College and worked as a bookkeeper for Traxler Redi mix, Horizon Home Center and for Dr. Shackelford until she retired.

Carolyn was a member of the Arthur United Methodist Church; she sang in the church Choir, enjoyed playing piano and working at the church bazaar.  

Carolyn liked to read, crochet, and knit; she made afghan blankets for each of her great grandchildren and had one started for the new great grandbaby on the way.  She was a good cook and always made homemade noodles, green bean casserole and great salads. 

Memorials may be made to the Arthur United Methodist Church.
