Brenda Lee (Crist) Kelley

Brenda Lee “Bren” (Crist) Kelley, 61, of Decatur, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Decatur Memorial Hospital on Wednesday, November 26, 2025.

Private funeral services will be held. Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Brenda was born on November 10, 1964, she was a daughter of Donald and Evelyn (VanDeveer) Crist. She married Richard Kelley February 1, 1993, in Decatur, IL.

Brenda brought warmth and joy to those around her throughout her life. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother whose love for her family was the cornerstone of her life.

She is survived by her beloved husband Rick Kelley; her four children Tasha McClendon, Shastine McClendon, Heather Brettin and her husband Ryan Brettin and Trei Kelley, her cherished sister Melissa Mikel and husband John Mikel. Brenda’s legacy continues through her nine grandchildren who brought immense pride and happiness to her heart.

Brenda was preceded in death by her parents, Don and Evelyn Crist, as well as three sisters Mary Ann, Donna and Joan. Their memories remained close to Brenda’s heart throughout her life.

Known affectionately as “Bren”, she had a contagious laugh that could light up any room. Her big heart and warm embracing hugs left lasting impressions on everyone she met. Brenda found joy in the simple pleasures of life- especially watching horror movies and shared that joy with those around her.

Above all else, Brenda loved her family deeply and unconditionally. Her presence will be profoundly missed but fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her.
