BOBBY RATHBONE, 84, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 11:30 A.M. on Monday, October 19, 2015, at his residence in Mattoon, IL.
A grave side service will be held at 2:30 P.M. on Sunday, November 1, 2015 at the Arcola Cemetery with Military Rights held by the Arcola VFW and the Arcola American Legion. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Bobby was born on August 3, 1931 in Kellyville, OK. He was a son to Clayton and Mildred Kathryn (Fox) Rathbone. He married Peggy Titus Thomas on October 19, 2002 in Mattoon, IL.
He is survived by his wife, three children Bobby Rathbone, Bonnie Rathbone and Michael Rathbone, two brothers, Jim Rathbone and Harold Rathbone, a special nephew, Bill Hooper of Streamwood, IL, one stepson, Richard Thomas of Clarksville, TN, and two yorkie dogs, Buddy and Dolly that he loved spending time with.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marion Porter and Dorothy Hooper, three stepsons, Jerry, Roger and Mike Thomas, and two grandsons.
Bobby had worked as a postal carrier for several years; he was in the United States Air Force, he drove a semi and retired from the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Bobby was an avid golfer and loved to read Westerns on his Kindle. He liked computers, crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles.
