Bertha Ann Eveland

BERTHA ANN EVELAND, 76, of Atwood, IL went to be with the Lord at 3:00 P.M. on Saturday, September 20, 2025 surrounded by family at her residence.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, September 26, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main St. in Arcola, IL. Visitation will be held one hour before the memorial service from Noon until one at the funeral home on Friday.

Bertha was born on June 11, 1949 in Palestine, IL, a daughter of James and Betty Jane (Purcell) Ziegler. She married Darrell Roscoe Eveland on January 17, 1969 in Robinson, IL. He passed away on December 3, 2017.

Bertha is survived by three children, Michelle (Randy) West , Karen Eveland (Aaron Ehrgott), and Mendy (Hannah) Eveland; grandchildren, Justin Eveland, Joshua, Jennifer Like, Blake West, Wade Haanpaa, Cheyenne Haanpaa, and Alicia Starr (Daron Soard); great-grandchildren, Adelyn and Parker West, Layla Howard, and Charlie and Dana Soard; her beloved cat, Spanky; brothers and sisters, Robert Ziegler, Richard Ziegler, Norma Otey, and Sarah Hunter Stansberry.

She was preceded in death by her husband Darrell Eveland, her mother, Betty Moore, her father, James Ziegler, and brothers, Leroy and Mike Ziegler.

Bertha’s favorite thing to do was to simply spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
