Barbara Ann Baker

Barbara Ann Baker, 91, of Mattoon, IL passed away at 10:57 AM on Friday, June 13, 2025 at her daughter’s residence in Mattoon, IL.

A visitation will be held to celebrate Barbara’s life from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM on Friday, June 20, 2025 at the Edwards Funeral Home, 221 East Main Street, in Arcola, IL. Burial will take place in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens at a later date.

Barbara was born on August 21, 1933 in Mattoon, IL. She was the daughter of Edward and Anna (Thurpe) Gullion.

She is survived by two daughters, Lee Ann Kastl and her husband Bert and Jodi McClelland and her husband Karl all of Mattoon, IL, 14 grandchildren, and many great, and great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a daughter, Dianna Rae Hubbart, granddaughters, Rachel Ann Sutton and Trisha Lucas, as well as all of her siblings Ed, Raymond, Pete, Millie, Evelyn and Little June.

Barbara was a member of the Broadway Christian Church in Mattoon. She worked at the Brown Shoe Factory in Mattoon until they closed and in Charleston, until they closed, for a total of 32 years. She then went to work on the “cleaning crew” at General Electric until she retired.

Barbara loved reading Amish books, painting ceramics, and going out to eat with friends. She liked coloring in adult coloring books and would frequently share her colorful creations with her family and friends. She adored her cat, Callie, and loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
