Andrew Leroy Boosinger, 61 of Springfield, IL passed away at 10:59 A.M. Friday June 5, 2026, at the Arc at Sangamon Valley.

A Celebration of Andrew’s life will be held from 5:00 PM to 10:00 PM on Friday, June 26, 2026 at Washington Park Picnic Shelter. Additional details will be in Facebook event to be created shortly.

Andrew was born July 5, 1964, in St. Charles, MO. He was the son of Fredrick and Rosemarie Dorthea (Maxey) Boosinger. He married Alison Joyce Hayes on February 18, 1984, in Springfield, IL.

He is survived by his wife Alison, of Springfield, IL; 4 children- Somer Anne (Boosinger) Wiseheart and her husband Timothy of Springfield, IL, Corey Andrew Boosinger of Springfield, IL, Shauna Rose (Boosinger) Biggs and her husband Shane of Springfield, IL and Hope (Odom) Coleman and her husband Courtland; six grandchildren, Aurora, Micah, and Andrew Wiseheart, Alex, Evan and Lauren Wilson, three brothers, James Scott Boosinger and his wife Marty of Sherman, IL, Kerry John Boosinger and his wife Brandi, and Kevin Boosinger all of Springfield, and one sister Mary Jane Childers of Springfield, IL.

Andrew was preceded in death by his dad, Fred Boosinger, one sister, Kathy (Boosinger) Childers, one brother, Timothy Boosinger, and a brother-in-law, Jerry Childers.

Andrew worked as a nurse at the Sangamon County Jail for many years.

He was a member of the Church of Christ and served as a Medical Missionary in Guyana, South America, where he helped open a children's home called Hope Children’s Home at the Enmore Church of Christ in Guyana, South America in 2001. Hope Children's Home initially housed more than 45 children, providing orphaned and needy children of Guyana loving care, food, and clothing in a clean, caring, and safe environment. It is a U.S. mission with a global impact that is still thriving to this day.

He and his wife Alison were very instrumental in getting people, young and old the proper care they needed even if it meant bringing them to the United States to do so.

Andrew was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan, He loved Harry Potter audiobooks and the show, King of the Hill. His greatest joy in life simply came from being with his family. He especially

looked forward to teaching his granddaughter Aurora new words to spell, and taking his grandson, Andrew, to Route 66 Drive In Theater every Friday night.
