AMANDA J. KEMP, 89, of Arcola, IL passed away at 10:00 A.M. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at her residence in Arcola surrounded by her family.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. and 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. on Sunday, May 15, 2016 at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church in rural Arcola. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church. Pastor Larry Rocke and Pastor Lonnie Gingerich will officiate. Burial will be in Sunnyside Mennonite Church Cemetery. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

Amanda was born on May 8, 1927 in Moultrie County, Illinois. She was a daughter of Jacob M. and Katie N. (Helmuth) Otto. She married Herman Kemp on December 23, 1948 in Arcola, IL. He passed away on August 5, 1995.

She is survived by two sons, Noah H. Kemp and his wife Jayne of Neoga, IL and Samuel H. Kemp and his wife Jeri of Holts Summit, MO, six daughters, Katie Dampier and her husband Harold of Plainfield, WI, Rose Clapp and her husband Daniel of Kansas, IL, Amanda Gove and her husband Keith of Jefferson City, MO, Mary Dierkens and her husband Randy of Mattoon, IL Betty Evans and her husband Mitch of Lafayette, TN and Nancy Byard and her husband Ken of Arcola, IL, one son-in-law, Aaron Kilmer of Neillsville, WI, 27 grandchildren, 54 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, one sister-in-law, Nancy Otto of Arthur, IL.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sons, Chris and Jacob Kemp, and Delbert Kemp, one daughter Anna Kilmer, two brothers, Noah Otto and Elmer Otto, two sisters, Fannie Schrock and Elizabeth Schrock, one step-grandchild, Katie Achenbauch one great-grandson, Barry Evans and one son-in-law, Floyd Tucker.

Amanda was a faithful member of the Sunnyside Mennonite Church for over 55 years.

She enjoyed quilting, gardening, spending time with family, singing and watching her favorite TV shows. Amanda was known for her generosity and giving to others. She was also known for her quick wit that was sure to make anyone laugh. She had a strong memory and was a great source of knowledge and wisdom.

Memorials may be made to the Sunnyside Mennonite Church, Arcola Lions Club or Lincoln Land Hospice.
