Marvin Noah Plank, 77, of Arthur, IL passed away at 4:30 A.M. on Tuesday, August 20, 2019 at Sullivan Rehab and Health Care.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Monday, August 26, 2019 at the Arthur Mennonite Church, 710 East Park St., Arthur, IL. Rev. Glen Rhodes will officiate. Burial will be in the Arcola Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 25, 2019 at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Marvin was born on March 22, 1942 in Lovington, IL. He was a son of Jacob C. and Fannie (Yoder) Plank. He married Donna Swinford on June 6, 1965 in Mattoon, IL; she passed away on March 13, 2016.
Survivors include one son Bob Plank of Arthur, IL two daughters, Linda Pforr and her husband Chris of Janesville, IL and Tammy Plank of San Antonio, TX, two grandsons, Cameron Dean Pforr and Dakota Lee Pforr both of Arthur, IL.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and one sister, Edna Viola Schrock.
Marvin was a member of the LifePointe Family Church in Arcola, IL.
Marvin began working at Schrock Cabinet factory in Arthur, IL, he was the 3rd employee hired by Paul Schrock, where he started as a truck driver, delivering cabinets. Schrock’s later became Masterbrand and Marvin retired in 2009 as a maintenance man with 42 years of service.
After he retired, he taxied for the Amish. Marvin’s hobbies included electricity steam engines and computers.
He was a stranger to no one, and he was always willing to lend a helping hand.
