August 26, 1931 ~ May 1, 2018 (age 86)

GERALD D. GOOD, 86, of Arcola, IL passed away at 6:55 A.M. Tuesday, May 1, 2018 at Palm Terrace of Mattoon, IL.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Friday, May 4, 2018 at the Kemp Church of Christ, 128 West Kemp Street in Kemp, IL.  Pastor Robert Hemingway will officiate.  Burial with Military Rites conducted by the Arcola VFW and the Arcola American Legion will be in the Arcola Cemetery. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral from 11:00 A.M. to 1:00 P.M. at the church.  The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.

Gerald was born on August 26, 1931 in Red Boiling Springs, TN.  He was a son of Luther Monroe and Ova Edna (Davis) Good.  He married Joyce Haskell on February 28, 1959 in Kemp, IL.  She passed away on May 9, 1989.  He then married Beverley Ann (Guyot) Overstreet on August 19, 1995 in Kemp, IL.  She passed away on August 23, 2017.

Survivors include two children, Ray Good and his partner Mary of Charleston, IL, and Tammy Dewey and her husband Byran of Arcola, IL, one step-daughter, Meri Lee Overstreet-Bennett and her husband Darrin of Atwood, IL, 17 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, two sisters, Wanda Shields and her husband Terry of Kemp, IL and Donna Sisk and her husband Tim of Fripp Island, SC, two sisters-in-law, Betty Good of Urbana, IL, and Marie Haskell of Allen Town, PA, and a brother-in-law, John Guyot and his wife Joan of Arcola, IL. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, a step-son, Robert Hess two brother, Karl Good and Wilfred Good and four sisters, Joanna Good, Brenda Raymer, Wilma Jean Kerschner and Joyce Damery.

Gerald was an Army Veteran.

Gerald was a Sheet Metal worker for 42 years. He worked at Progress Industries in Arthur, IL, Air Flex in Champaign, IL and he completed his career working out of the Sheet Metal Union, Local 218C of Champaign, IL.

He enjoyed fishing, woodworking, riding bicycles and traveling.  He was an avid gardener and he had an unusual ability for growing large tomatoes.  He also enjoyed spending time with family and friends.
