Doris “Darlene” Hoover, 82, of Decatur, IL went to be with Jesus at 10:36 A.M. on Tuesday, October 22, 2019.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 P.M. on Monday, October 28, 2019 at GT Church, 500 South 27th St. in Decatur, IL. Burial will be in Point Pleasant Cemetery in Long Creek, IL. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. prior to the funeral at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Darlene was born on October 16, 1937 in Villa Grove, IL the daughter of James A. and Leo S. (Scogins) Stevens. She married Robert “Bob” Hoover, her high school sweetheart on September 8, 1957 in Roberts, IL. They were blessed with sixty-two years of marriage and two daughters, Brenda and Gayle. Darlene loved the Lord and was a member of GT Church. She also faithfully served alongside her husband in ministry at Living Word Church in Roberts, IL. Darlene was known for her kind and gentle spirit, and of course, her delicious pies. Some of her favorite things to talk about were her four grandchildren and her eight great-grandchildren.
Darlene is survived by her husband, Pastor Robert A. Hoover; daughters, Brenda Nevitt and Gayle (Mike) Hedge; grandchildren, Amy (Derek) Grove, Lindsay (Manny) Otero and Austin (Savannah) Hedge and great-grandchildren, Ella, Bennett and Sawyer Grove, Eli and Everly Otero and Micah, Penny and Sophie Hedge.
Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, a son-in-law, B.G. Nevitt, one granddaughter: Melissa Nevitt, two sisters, Marie Sturm and Phyllis Shorb and three brothers, Kenny, Elmer, and Eddie Stevens.
