Charles William Havener, 93, of Illiopolis, IL passed away at 5:45 A.M. on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the Eastern Star Home of Macon County in Macon, IL.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, October 31, 2019 at the Illiopolis United Methodist Church, 501 East Matilda, Illiopolis, IL. Rev. C.W. Reneker will officiate. Burial will be in the Lake Bank Cemetery in Latham, IL. Masonic Rites will be conducted by the Kendron Lodge #340. Visitation will be held two hours prior to the funeral, from 9:00 to 11:00, at the church. The Edwards Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Charles was born on August 31, 1926 in Illiopolis, IL. He was a son of Clarence Edward and Lucille (Branel) Havener. He married Mary Ellen Fishburn on November 17, 1951 in Pana, IL. She passed away on November 29, 2008.
He is survived by seven children, Terry Havener and his wife Carol of Bakersfield, CA, Chris Havener and his wife Debbie of Decatur, IL, Gary Havener of Taylorville, IL, Randy Havener and wife Linda of Illiopolis, IL, Amy Willis and her husband Greg of Decatur, IL, Abby Rosencrans and her husband Mike of Anamosa, IA and Todd Havener and his wife Carol of Harristown, IL; seventeen grandchildren; twenty-eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, one son, Jeff Havener, one grandson, Curtis William Havener, two brothers and two sisters.
Bill was a Navy Veteran of WWII.
He was a member of the Illiopolis United Methodist Church. He had been a member of the Kendron Masonic Lodge #340 for over 50 years, the Eastern Star Tacusar Chapter 682, Order of the Eastern Star, and the Illiopolis American Legion.
Bill worked at Staley’s in Decatur for 9 years and then went to work for the Borden Chemical Company of Illiopolis where he retired in 1988.
